It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Amir H. Mohajerin announces his passing on Thursday, April 28, 2011, his 48th wedding anniverary, at the age of 78.
Amir lived and worked in the Eugene-Springfield area for 31 years and is the founder of the Dermatology Clinic of Springfield.
Amir was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. After graduating from medical school in 1960, he left Iran to do his internship in Canada. In 1962, he came to Madison, Wisconsin for his dermatology residency. In 1963, he married his childhood sweetheart, Shokouh. In 1966, they returned to Canada. They visited Eugene, Oregon in 1974, fell in love with the beauty of the area, and subsequently moved there to raise their family. Amir became an American citizen in 1987.
Amir was active in the Kiwanis Club of Springfield and the Oregon Dermatology Society. In his free time, Amir loved gardening, painting, and sculpting. He was a talented artist and accomplished writer. He published the Mohajerin geneology (2002), Unforgettable Words of Wisdom (2005), and Suffering Genius (2006). He was a member of the Baha’i faith. His family, friends, and patients knew him as a man of great integrity, generosity, and kindness.
Amir retired in 1997. In 2004, they moved to Manhattan Beach, California to be close to their son. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shokouh, son Francis of Manhattan Beach, California, daughter Lena of Portland, Oregon, and four granddaughters.
In accordance with Amirs wishes, no services will be held. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Amir Houshang Mohajerin, MD, FAAD to the Parkinsons Resource Organization 74-090 El Paseo Suite 104, Palm Desert Ca. 92260
