Dr. Dwight Jennings, DDS, MICCMO

Welcome to my practices in Alameda and Sutter Creek, California.

Early in my dental career I abandoned my large practice in general dentistry to pursue my passionate interest in jaw orthopedics and dental medicine.  I have spent countless hours over the years investigating the connection between poor bites and health.

I believe that through nutrition, exercise, and structural rehabilitation that the body can be restored.  I believe that non-pharmaceutical medicine is the best medicine.

As a result of a limited area of practice and extensive investigations, I have developed multiple insightful models that have proven useful in treating a number of medical conditions not commonly thought to be related to how one bites; like seizures, eczema, autoimmune disorders, leukemia, Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative disorders.    I have uncovered extensive literature illustrating the mechanisms by which compromised bites modulate various systems in the body.   These models are invaluable in directing my treatment.

In the past two years I have undertaken a major project investigating the influence of bite enhancement on the developmentally disabled.  This is proving to be highly beneficial.  Most recently I started an Elder Care Initiative, to educate the public and profession as to the importance of maintaining a good jaw relationship in the elderly (see tmjcalifornia.com/elder-care-initiative).

My practice is composed of a wide assortment of patients, from the young being treated orthodontically with optimal jaw alignment, to a large segment of hypersensitive clients (a common product of long term jaw dysfunction).  Treatment is done in a clinical setting where patients converse and share freely.   I enjoy sharing with my patients who teach me something every day.   Our patients come from all over the United States and around the world to our Alameda office which is conveniently located 5 minutes from the Oakland Airport.

I initially saw Dr. Dwight for TMJ pain. He re aligned my bite ; No pain. Years later, I experienced great

pain for which my GP prescribed hydrocodone. I just happen to have an appointment with Dr. Dwight..

Where they could see how uncomfortable I was. He fashioned a small appliance for my back teeth.

Within twenty four hours, I had NO pain. It was a miracle. Instead of taking a very addictive drug. A simple

    appliance made the cure!!

  2. Hello,
I am so excited to have found Dr. Jennings. I am an integrative nutrition health coach and have been searching for an integrative orthodontist for my children. I am calling tomorrow to make an appointment! I have a question about my oldest daughter, too. She was vaccine injured at age 4 months and suffers from high functioning autism. She did have braces when she was 13. Is there anything that can be done for her to improve her quality of life? Thanks so much!

    • Dr. Jennings is a wonderful and extremely competent dentist who takes his practice of good health very seriously, concentrating on the gateway, our oral cavity. Your best bet is to ask him about your daughter’s condition, if he cannot address he may be able to direct you to whomever can. Thank you for comment and question.

  3. I just watched Dr. Jennings’ video about PD and the specific Orthotic that can help with PD symptoms. I know that every person’ treatment would be different but I was wondering approximately how much does this treatment costs? Thanks.

    • Thank you for reaching out Mitra. We contacted Doctor Jennings and asked your question. His reply was:

Treatment cost varies but is in the range of $2,500 to $6,500.

If you are not in Dr. Jenning’s area and if you are contemplating investigating this work, please get in touch with us to help you find an educated and equipped dentist with an understanding of the symptoms of TMJ that can mimic Parkinson’s symptoms. Dentists do not treat Parkinson’s.

      We hope this helped.

My husband and I have been treating with Dr. Jennings since March ’12. Don has Parkinsons and a TMJ disorder. Previously to our meeting Dr. J, Don was treating with a facial-cranial surgeon who was unable to help with Don’s terrible pain and inability to eat anything but ice cream and bananas. After treating with Dr. J for 3 months, Don is now able to eat almost everything. He’s doing great!

I have a very irregular bite as a result of improper orthodonture in the ’60s. It has caused me cervical spine problems, Bells palsy, loss of my sense of smell, migraines, tinnitus. Now I can proudly say I have regained my sense of smell.

We are so grateful for Dr. Jennings’ insightful knowledge and his experience, and grateful for the opportunity to be his patients. Barbara and Don Marquis, Cool, California
