Welcome to my practices in Alameda and Sutter Creek, California.

Early in my dental career, I abandoned my large practice in general dentistry to pursue my passionate interest in jaw orthopedics and dental medicine.  I have spent countless hours over the years investigating the connection between poor bites and health.

I believe that through nutrition, exercise, and structural rehabilitation that the body can be restored.  I believe that non-pharmaceutical medicine is the best medicine.

As a result of a limited area of practice and extensive investigations, I have developed multiple insightful models that have proven useful in treating a number of medical conditions not commonly thought to be related to how one bites; like seizures, eczema, autoimmune disorders, leukemia, Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative disorders.    I have uncovered extensive literature illustrating the mechanisms by which compromised bites modulate various systems in the body.   These models are invaluable in directing my treatment.

In the past few years, I have undertaken a major project investigating the influence of bite enhancement on the developmentally disabled.  This is proving to be highly beneficial.  Most recently I started an Elder Care Initiative, to educate the public and profession as to the importance of maintaining a good jaw relationship in the elderly (see tmjcalifornia.com/elder-care-initiative).

My practice is composed of a wide assortment of patients, from the young being treated orthodontically with optimal jaw alignment, to a large segment of hypersensitive clients (a common product of long-term jaw dysfunction).  Treatment is done in a clinical setting where patients converse and share freely.   I enjoy sharing with my patients who teach me something every day.   Our patients come from all over the United States and around the world to our Alameda office which is conveniently located 5 minutes from the Oakland Airport.
