MEET THE PRO TEAM - Mary Lou Green

Category:

It’s the people behind the scenes at PRO that makes us the special resource organization that we are. Each month we take our readers behind the scenes and introduce one person from the PRO team.

Mary Lou Green, BA, MA, CDP, Brain Longevity Specialist

Partner in Care Support Group Facilitator

1. Describe your role with PRO.

“I am privileged to facilitate the virtual Partners in Care Support Group on the third Wednesday of every month. I also fill in for other PRO support group facilitators. Recently, I led a PRO workshop for the Wednesday In-Person Round Table; the topic was how to select a care home here in Coachella Valley when in-home care becomes too expensive and the caregiver's health is at risk. As the Founder and Owner of Dementia Bridge, a local company dedicated to supporting family caregivers dealing with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, I have the opportunity to share experiences, strategies, tips, and emotional support for caregivers. I don't want any caregiver to feel lost or alone.”

2. What inspired you to come work with PRO?

“I wanted to volunteer for PRO when I met PRO’s Executive Director Eileen Lynch because I was inspired by her leadership, her research-based knowledge, and her dedication to our Parkinson's families. My dad had Parkinson's, and now my husband has been diagnosed with it. I appreciate being part of such a caring staff and community. I am inspired by the people I meet through PRO who have Parkinson's - and by their caregivers - who are looking for ways to make each day better.”

3. What is a fun fact about you?

“My husband and I are inventors. We started our own company in Denver and have worked together for 35 years. We have invented, manufactured, and marketed over 50 gadgets and consumer products that were sold in 26 foreign countries. We hold 17 patents between us. Our most successful product was Sneaker Balls - Air Fresheners for Sports Shoes and Bags - which were featured in People Magazine in July 1989. Currently, we sell two products on Amazon, and we are testing our prototype for a new family board game.”
