MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DECEMBER 2025

Category: Newsworthy Notes

As we enter this season of warmth, reflection, and togetherness, I find myself deeply grateful for the community that makes Parkinson’s Resource Organization what it is. The holidays bring a flurry of activity but they also have a beautiful way of inviting us to pause—to look back at all we’ve overcome, all we’ve built, and all the ways we’ve shown up for one another.

As I reflect on a year that vanished in the blink of an eye, I’m truly humbled by how much we accomplished at PRO and with your help.

  • We brought more than 300 people together with The Michael J. Fox Foundation for our annual Parkinson’s Today Symposium – and recorded footage of the event was viewed over 70,000 times! (Mark your calendars for Year Two on February 7, 2026).
  • We launched two new in-person support groups, expanding our reach into communities long-starved for in-person support.
  • We grew our educational library of fact sheets, podcasts, videos, and practical tools so families can find clarity and comfort when they need it most.
  • And – we increased our Charity Navigator score to a stellar 98% – a testament to our transparency, integrity, and unwavering commitment to those we serve.

None of this happened by accident. It happened because this community believes in PRO’s mission and in the power of showing up for people facing Parkinson’s.

As we close out this year, I invite you to make a tax-deductible year-end gift to sustain and strengthen this momentum. Your donation today ensures that every person living with Parkinson’s, and every caregiver walking alongside them, has a place to turn for hope, resources, and connections.

The reality is, we face daunting challenges as Parkinson’s incidence rises and resources fail to keep pace. Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurodegenerative disease in the US, but specialist shortages and overburdened government programs leave families adrift. PRO is proud to step into the breach; we do our best to fill these gaps in care with education, resources, and practical support.

Operating a nonprofit offers its own set of challenges. My own patience, faith, and creativity has been tested to the limits. I have often questioned my sanity. Still, I am filled with gratitude and joy as I wrap up my second year as Executive Director of this special organization. In doing so, I get to really know you – your families, your humor, your sensitivities, the things you’re proud of and the things that keep you up at night (is it nocturia?). It’s an honor to do this work.

And yes, this work is only sustainable with your support. Our programs are free (and will remain so) because we want EVERYONE to have access to quality education and resources. You’ll never have to pay to participate. But if you’re in a position to do so, pay it forward by donating at parkinsonsresource.org/CircleOfCare or mail a check to 74785 Highway 111, Suite 208, Indian Wells, CA 92210 to complete your tax-deductible year-end gift.

Happy December. We at PRO hope you enjoy this final month of 2025. From our hearts to yours, thank you for making this work possible. May your holiday season be peaceful, joyful, and filled with the warmth of our community.
