Message from the President - July 2022

Category: Message From The President

INDEPENDENCE DAY... what does it mean to you?

Independence means to be resourceful. To be able to adapt to any situation and satisfy your needs with what you have. It is to take responsibility for your actions and be aware of the consequences, be brave and take the risk of trusting only yourself. Sometimes a disease like Parkinson’s takes that independence away. Independence is different than freedom. Freedom, generally, is having an ability to act or change without constraint. Whichever you wish to apply Independence and/or Freedom, please enjoy your 4th of July and thank those who work and have sacrificed to give us the freedoms we enjoy and cherish in the United States.

At PRO, among other things, we work to educate people about resources available that can create the best quality of life possible. We work for the independence of others, and we’ve been doing this for nearly 33 years.

This month you should want to check out UPDATE ON THE ROAD TO THE CURE on this page. Other neat articles are PAYING FOR CARE NEEDS: LIFE INSURANCE SETTLEMENTS MARKET CONTINUES TO GROW on page 2; HEARING LOSS AND EPILEPSY IDENTIFIED AS EARLY SIGNS OF PARKINSON’S on page 3; I’VE JUST BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH PARKINSON’S on page 4; PRO’s SUMMER SCHEDULE, also on page 4; BEE VENOM: OSTEOARTHRITIS AND PARKINSON’S DISEASE on page 5; COVID INFECTION MAY INCREASE RISK OF PARKINSON’S, MICE STUDY SUGGESTS on page 6, and; BITS AND PIECES: SAVE THE DATE – PRO’s “INAUGURAL BRISK OFF”, also on page 6.

Thank you. In addition to donating, join us in becoming a key part of our efforts. Contact us to “Get Involved” at ParkinsonsResource.org. Without you, we could never do all that we do.

Until next month, REMEMBER Canada Day on the 1st, Independence Day on the 4th, World Chocolate Day on the 7th, Bastille Day on the 14th, National Vanilla Ice Cream Day on the 23rd, and International Day of Friendship on the 30th. The flowers are the Larkspur and Water Lily, and the Birthstones, Ruby and Onyx.

ALWAYS remember to CELEBRATE YOU and PRAY FOR OUR TROOPS!
