Job Title: Program Manager
Organization: Parkinson’s Resource Organization (PRO)
Location: Coachella Valley, California (In-person required)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Salaried
Compensation: $65-75,000/year
Schedule: 9 AM - 5 PM Monday - Friday, with occasional evening or weekend work to accomplish program objectives and facilitate special events.
About Parkinson’s Resource Organization (PRO)
Parkinson’s Resource Organization is dedicated to working so that no one is isolated because of Parkinson’s disease. We improve quality of life for people with Parkinson’s and their caregivers through support groups, person-to-person support, education, resources, and community-building.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate, and detail-oriented Program Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of PRO’s support groups, educational programs, and individual constituent support. This is a full-time, in-person position ideal for someone who is passionate about community health, thrives in relationship-building, and enjoys the rewarding challenge of working closely with seniors, caregivers, and individuals facing chronic illness.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Manager will lead the coordination of 20–25 support groups per month (a mix of virtual and in-person), recruit and train facilitators, grow partnerships with service providers, work directly with constituents, and develop new programs to serve diverse audiences within the Parkinson’s community.
Key Responsibilities
Support Group Management – Manage 20–25 monthly support groups across in-person and virtual platforms, including but not limited to:
- Schedule, promote, and host support group meetings.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and support volunteer and specialized facilitators; manage relevant contracts and invoices.
- Follow up with attendees to ensure continued engagement and support.
- Create engaging and accessible materials for in-person and virtual programs
Digital Program Management – Facilitate digital programs like PRO’s monthly podcast, conversion of select virtual support groups for YouTube, and blog updates. Including:
- Work with PRO staff to identify and recruit candidates for monthly podcast
- Update monthly blog on website
- Develop digital promotions for PRO educational and support programs
Community Engagement & Outreach – Cultivate relationships with community partners, healthcare professionals, and service providers in pursuit of building a strong network of professionals to support program objectives, present at PRO educational events, and develop content for additional programming.
- Develop and maintain PRO’s Social Service Directory of free local resources and social services.
- Represent PRO at relevant community events and outreach opportunities.
Program Evaluation & Reporting – Maintain engaging, educational quality of programs, assess program strengths and weaknesses, make informed decisions about programs in collaboration with PRO leadership. Including, but not limited to:
- Track participation metrics and program impact.
- Contribute updates to monthly newsletters and board reports.
- Provide periodic program updates to the Board of Directors
- Manage program budgets.
- Use data to assess effectiveness and make informed recommendations for improvement.
- In collaboration with PRO team, develop new support groups and targeted programs for underserved audiences (e.g. caregivers, Spanish-speaking populations, young onset, etc.).
Constituent Management – Onboard and support constituents in navigating PRO educational programs. Including but not limited to:
- Onboard new constituents and maintain accurate records in the organizational database.
- Answer constituent phone calls and provide information, referrals, and empathetic guidance tailored to each individual’s unique circumstances.
- Convey recurring or complex constituent needs to PRO leadership.
Team & Event Support
- Assist with the planning and execution of PRO’s annual educational symposium and other community events.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and support colleagues with shared projects and initiatives. Collaborate on cross-functional projects.
- Occasional administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in program management, social work, community health, or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in writing engaging and effective copy for announcements, emails, newsletters, and social posts.
- A genuine desire to support individuals and families facing illness.
- High emotional intelligence – patience, compassion, and listening.
- Ability to confidently manage meetings and navigate challenging conversations and personalities with grace and compassion.
- Comfort working with seniors, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with software including but not limited to Zoom, Chat GPT/Grok, Google Workspace, Microsoft, Canva, Neon or comparable database, email marketing platforms.
- Ability to create basic marketing materials (emails, digital flyers, thumbnails, social media posts, etc.).
- A self-starter who thrives in a small, collaborative, mission-driven team environment and isn’t afraid to ask for assistance or guidance when needed.
- Fast learner capable of embracing new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals affected by Parkinson’s or other neurodegenerative or age-related conditions.
- Background in nursing, social work, gerontology, or caregiving.
- Ability to translate complex medical or caregiver topics into easy-to-understand content for a lay audience.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
