PRO OUT AND ABOUT: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - MARCH 2026
Category: Newsworthy NotesMore than 300 community members gathered on Saturday, February 7th at UCR Palm Desert for the 2nd Annual Parkinson’s Today: An Educational Symposium — a powerful day of learning, connection, and hope.
Hosted by Parkinson’s Resource Organization in partnership with the Michael J. Fox Foundation, this free educational event brought together people living with Parkinson’s, care partners, healthcare professionals, and community advocates from across the region. Together, they explored the latest advancements and practical strategies for navigating life with Parkinson’s.
The program featured three expert-led panels focused on treatment options, building a comprehensive care team, and current research developments. Attendees gained valuable insights into managing symptoms, coordinating care, and understanding the promising direction of scientific progress. For many, the symposium offered not only information, but reassurance — a reminder that they are not alone on this journey.
The day’s success was made possible by dedicated volunteers who welcomed guests, assisted with logistics, and ensured everything ran smoothly. Generous sponsors provided critical support, and a vibrant vendor expo connected attendees with local service providers and resources designed to enhance quality of life.
With generous support from presenting sponsor the Auen Foundation, the symposium continues its mission of delivering timely, trusted information to the estimated 10,000 people living with Parkinson’s in The Coachella Valley.
If you were unable to attend — or would like to revisit the conversations — full videos of each panel will be shared in the coming days. Together, we continue learning, connecting, and moving forward.
